Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) and Bharat Chamber of Commerce (BCC), India, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote trade and business in two neighboring nations.
Anwar-ul Alam Chowdhury (Parvez), President, BCI and N.G. Khaitan, President, BCC signed the MoU on behalf of his respective institutions at BCI office in Dhaka.Under the MoU, the two countries will exchange business information, expand cooperation, India Chamber will set up “Dhaka DEX” in its office and BCI office will have “Kolkata DEX”, said the BCI.
It also informed that two chambers will promote exchange of information about opportunities to participate in trade fairs, exhibitions and seminars to be held in Bangladesh and West Bengal. They will work for the development of business and investment in the two countries.
Both sides believe that a new door will be opened in terms of business expansion in the two countries.
Welcoming the BCC delegation, the BCI president said Bangladesh currently has various potential sectors including light engineering, agro-based industrial sector, bio economy, information technology where India can cooperate and work in joint ventures.
There are opportunities to work on technical and skill development and training, he said.
The BCC president said that Bangladesh and India are fast growing economies and densely populated countries.“A huge consumer class is our strength. We can start joint ventures on potential sectors including skill development and training, light engineering, agro-based industries”, he said adding, Bharat Chamber wants to organize a business summit in Kolkata next year. Everyone will be invited to this summit.
