BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has alleged that explosion is taking place in Dhaka over the last couple of days.

“We’re unfortunate. The Dhaka City has turned into a city of explosion due to the utter failure of the government in all fields,” he said while speaking as the chief guest at a rally brought out in observance of the International Women’s Day on Wednesday afternoon at BNP central office premises at Nayapaltan in the capital.

Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal organised the rally  in observance of the International Women’s Day on Wednesday afternoon at BNP central office premises at Nayapaltan in the capital.

BNP Standing Committee member Selima Rahman, Mohila Dal president Afroza Abbas, general secretary Sultana Ahmed, senior joint general secretary Helen Jerin Khan, Dhaka City (North) convener Naeba Yusuf, and Dhaka South convener Ruma Akter among others were present.

Quoting experts, Mirza Fakhrul Islam alleged that three people were killed in an explosion at Science Laboratory due to accumulated gas in a building. Another massive explosion took place in a commercial building on Tuesday, leaving 18 people dead. Of them, two were women. Earlier, another explosion happened in Chattogram, leaving seven people dead.

“Why these are happening” he asked, saying that the government departments which are supposed to take care of it, keep close monitoring on these constantly, they don’t work at all. They have now indulged in rampant corruption.

The BNP leader alleged that people are losing their lives in such inhuman ways due to lack of fire extinguishing systems. “The Dhaka city has turned into one of the most dangerous cities of the world.”

Mirza Fakhrul also alleged that women are facing repression constantly in the reign of Awami League. “I don’t know whether women had undergone such brutal repression in the past.”

Referring to the torture of women at colleges and universities, Mirza Fakhrul asked that who have been repressing women at the universities? “The student wing belonging to the ruling Awami League has unleashed torture and repression on young women at the universities. The recent incident of repression on a woman at Islamic University of Kushtia is an example of it.”
