The Bashundhara Kings Arena of Bashundhara Sports Complex is going to take a step further as the new sport world class floodlights are going to sparkle this pitch soon.
The country’s full-fledged sports complex, Bashundhara Sports Complex, is one of the most precious and expensive assets of the country’s largest business conglomerate Bashundhara Group. The sports complex authority started the installation process by placing the root pillar of the first floodlights tower after a Milad and doa mahfil on Sunday.
There will be the four floodlights towers surrounding the entire Kings Arena and each of these floodlights is Category A, HD quality and able to produce the brightness of 2500 LUX.
Kings president Imrul Hassan, general secretary Biddut Kumar Bhowmik, Bashundhara Group’s Electrical Division chief engineer (Sector B) Laxman Kumar Dey and others were present on the occasion.
Imrul said that they were installing floodlights following FIFA-AFC standards which would be an example for the country’s sport-loving community.
“We are following FIFA-AFC standards to install the floodlights here. The Bashundhara Group sets an example for others to follow as it is going to be the first floodlights installation by any private initiative in the country,” he told the reporters. The installation process is expected to be finished by April. Kings president further said that they were expecting to host the second-phase matches of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League on floodlights.
“No other clubs in the South Asian region have their own floodlights, so it is also a matter of pride for us – Bashundhara Kings and Sheikh Russel. Hopefully, we will be able to play BPL second phase on floodlights,” Imrul, who is also the first vice-president of Bangladesh Football Federation, added.
“We will have several international assignments for the ACL play-offs and AFC Cup in August-September. Though we have floodlights now, the pitch is not fully prepared. So, we have to wait for arranging international matches until next year. But we are ready to give the pitch to the national team for training here if they need,” he further added.
The chief engineer of the floodlight installation project Laxman Kumar Dey said that their floodlights were able to produce more brightness than Bangabandhu National Stadium.
“There are a total of 280 lights at four towers and each of these lights are 1.2 kilowatt that means we are producing a total of 1200 kilowatt or 2500 LUX. As we know the BNS is able to produce 800-1200 LUX,” he said.
“Also, our floodlights will have some modern technologies including dimming and light show which will be activated before the start of the game, during half time and after the game. We have talked to DESCO, they will provide the power. Also, there will be our own generators, UPS and solar power system,” the chief engineer added.
