Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan on Thursday filed a defamation case against producer Rahmat Ullah over extortion and threatening to murder.
He filed the case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Judge Arafatul Sakib, confirmed by his lawyer Tanvir Ahmmed Tonu.
The court summoned Rahmat Ullah after recording the statement of Shakib.
It also fixed April 26 for the next hearing.
Shakib appeared before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court at 11:13am on Thursday.
Shakib Khan also went to Dhaka’s cyber tribunal to file another case against producer Rahmat Ullah under the Digital Security Act (DSA).
After filing the defamation case against the producer, he went to the court of Dhaka Cyber Tribunal Judge AM Zulfikar Hayat.
The judge asked his lawyer to come next Monday (March 27) without taking the case as the time for filing the case was over.
On March 15, Rahmat Ullah sent a complaint letter to the president of the Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association accusing Shakib Khan of giving misleading assurance along with unprofessional and unethical behaviour and neglect towards the film that he had promised to shoot.
The Dhallywood superstar was also accused of raping a co-producer in a hotel room and also gravely physically injuring the said victim.
The letter further noted that Shakib Khan was detained in Australia for the aforementioned rape case when he returned there in 2018. But as the victim did not come forward, no further action was taken by Australian law enforcement.
Rahmat Ullah claims to be the producer of the Shakib Khan-starring 2017 movie “Operation Agneepath,” but the actor says the main producer was Jane Alam, which is mentioned in the film contract as well.
On Saturday, Shakib Khan went to Gulshan police station to file a case. He talked to the police officers inside the police station for about an hour and a half.
Shakib Khan then came out and told reporters: “I have been advised by the police officers to file a case in court.”
Regarding the allegations against him in Australia, the actor said: “Is the Australian law so weak that I can come back to Bangladesh without trial? The case number mentioned by him is completely fake.”
